Post your bugs reports here!

Given this site is brand new, there’s bound to be a few small bugs here and there.

I’ve still got a few things on my to-do, but if you spot something and think you’ve found a bug, then please let me know here with the following details:

- What browser, and what browser version you are using.
- What operating system you are using.
- A screenshot of the problem would be great (email me: (JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) ).
- A link to the page where you saw the problem, or came across a bad link etc.

Thanks!

PS. Internet Explorer 6 is not supported at this stage. If you’re still using that ancient browser (it is almost 8 years old), please upgrade to a newer version:
- Download Internet Explorer 7
- Download Firefox
- Download Safari

When you click on a link to a reply you miss the first few lines of the message because the anchor is at the bottom of the mini profile box. The permalink is in a good location, but maybe you could move the actual name attribute higher up?

And if I can make a suggestion, it would be great if the quote link would add the text to the reply box rather than going to a new page, would make it a lot easier to reply to multiple people! Don’t know if that’s easy to do with Expression Engine though.

Thanks for fixing the local time and daylight savings time issues - finally I can know when people actually did in fact post, and not have to guess!

Rom 5:8 - unbelieveably great

Why the message it doesn’t appear in a column. I found it really hard to read now.

It appeared in the column when I first typed my message

Hey Luke
It might be useful to make the forum welcome messages “stickies” so they are always at the top. They will soon disappear into other pages otherwise.

Been scoobying around here a bit Luke and am seriously impressed.
DL’s note over in the Dying Lands about how complex and multi-layered/ faceted this is has given me pause to do obeisance.
Bloody good job here son, well done!

Thanks mate, and good suggestion :) I’ll wait till things build up a bit and then uhh, stickify them.

Ray, I’m not sure what you mean?

I don’t want to try this .... but I was wondering what happens when I go to someone’s profile page and there is a choice to “ignore this member”.
What does this do?
Does this block their posts from my screen? or does it prevent someone from emailing me?

Luke, when I click “View New Posts” I get a list of threads that have new posts in them. Unfortunately there’s no quick way to view the last posts in those threads (only a hyperlink to the start of those threads).

Also, I noticed that you tweaked the RSS feeds slightly but they still only show the first post in a thread not the last. This is simply FYI (in case you weren’t aware there’s still a problem so no I’m not nagging you to hurry up and fix it).

Not so much a bug as a query.  But first, excellent job Luke - words fail me.

Now, I’ve tried uploading a profile picture and signature, but they don’t seem to be coming up on my posts - what have I done wrong?  I used the upload photo thing, and kept it in jpg format under 300kb and less than 300 by 300, and it’s there if you click on my profile, but I thought it would also come up on my posts, or am I wrong in thinking that?

OK - signature now coming up - can you activate coding in it so I can have non-times roman font [despite the book cited] and have it in green please?  You’ll soon regret inviting me to join the venture….!

Rom 5:8 - unbelieveably great

OK, worked out the difference between avatar and photo - I’m slowly learning all these newfangled net thingies!  Furball is now up for all to see in her wondrous long haired persian glory!  (no that’s not a tautology - there is such a thing, and her fur is VERY long).  But enough about one of my cats, I’m sure the majority of the population here isn’t overly enamoured by them…..except maybe Angela C….

Glad you got the avatar and photo happening Kathryn, Furball looks very, uhh, friendly… :)

On the signatures, I’m afraid they’re staying small, grey and Arial, but trust me, it’s for the best :)

@Heather (sorry about the delay!), if you ‘ignore’ someone, their post just appears hidden and greyed out, with ‘You are ignoring so-and-so, click to expand’ on a single line.

@Angus thanks for letting me know, not sure how hard the search results will be to change but I can see what you mean, will add it to the list.

Hi Luke.
A query about a possible bug. I have been rejected on two occasions from seeing someone’s profile. I get a message that says I am not allowed to see member profiles. Is that usual? Because for some other people it is fine. cheers. H.

Hi Heather
this happened to me once or twice - in my case I think it was because I wasn’t logged in, and so didn’t have the rights to view the memberlist ...

Yep, you gotta be logged in to see profiles.

Hi Luke,

Whenever I put a link into a post, when I then ‘click’ on that link to check it works okay, I always end up at this :

http://site.com/main/index.htm

So I then immediately have to ‘edit’ the post. On that second attempt ( i.e. the edit post ) I am able to utilise the ‘url’ button on the bar above the post.

Initially I have been using the ‘BBCode tips’ to the left of this box - namely :  link so there is where the problem is occurring.

Cheers,  Kevin

I give up trying to write exactly what I mean as the url code makes it crazy :)  .....use the [url= etc manually maybe

OK
I saw this rabbit in a shop and he said to me “What’s up D….”

Oh

Hi Luke.
Had trouble with bible gateway links.
I cut and pasted, my normal method.
Trying to fix it, it looked like a couple of characters between the lines disappeared, on posting, and weren’t there when I tried to edit to fix.  So ‘John 14:6’  turned to something like ‘John   14:6’ and directed to the beginning of John, instead of the specific verse.  Tried to put it back in but it kept disappearing.
Edit - the gremlins got in here too!  Is it the % ? Edit - No.
What about John 14:6 . Edit That time the   disappeared. Edit - testing %2 testing * *
I guess its not just between lines. Testing %0 % 0 34 .
Now it looks like if a % is followed immediately by 2 numerals all three disappear. c And if it’s letters they turn into a box.

Anyway, I have to pack now to go away for a few days, and am declaring myself on an internet fast.  So don’t be in a rush.
Thanks for your links to stuff.  My son was quite fascinated by the dynamic map of recession in USA.
Edit - Just saw your list of required info.  Don’t know the precise answer to these.  PC Internet Explorer.  Will check up when I get back. It’s probably something awry at my end, right?
Ros.

This forum seems to be loading very slowly now.  So it takes close to a minute rather than 5 sec to process a post or post update.

It’s been slow in the last 2-3 days (I use Firefox 3.0.10), at least when I try to load it from home.  I haven’t installed anything new in those days and adware/spyware checks have come up with no known problems.

Is it still a problem? I had a look and seemed fine yesterday when I checked, though there was a period when another site of mine may have been slowing things down. Hopefully it’s ok now :)
