Christians in UK

Michael I don’t think the big question is just about prospering.
Nor do I think its about any establishment.  it seems this is a pretty big difference between Catholic and Protestant.  As far as I can tell (and I knew almost nothing about Catholicism before reading the posts on the old forum) in Catholicism everything is mediated through the hierarchy.  Not so for Protestants.

The big question is about God.  Does God exist?  What does he want from us?  How can we know this?
I’m curious, though, if your great great grandfather went away from the ‘establishment’ - did he leave the church completely, or become an atheist - or did he go to a local church?

Ros

My advice is to just ignore him.  Michael has spoilt many threads here.  I just don’t bother to post in reply to any of Michael’s angry ravings.  You can’t have a civil converstation with someone who is burning with hate over something and wants to punish anyone they can for their past hurts.

Had a family member like Michael and they died angry at the world.  No one was unhappy when they passed away recently it was a relief for us all to not have to deal with them anymore.  Unforgiveness eats them up inside.

Cheers
Milica

You know friends I talk to many many victims of C.C.S.A.allover australia and their main topic of conversation is ‘How can we stop the pain that has been inflicted on us being inflicted on others’now to me this is Pure Christianity———-CONCERN FOR OTHERS,People who want to see others treated the way they would like to have been treated. This to me is pure CHRISTIANITY.
  Cheers Ian Lawther.

Sorry if you see it that way Milica.
Ros, when you say…....
The big question is about God.  Does God exist?  What does he want from us?  How can we know this?
I do appreciate that although the thread is ‘Christians in the UK’, it is in this vain you mention that the question’s asked.

I could say that the first two articles were about one group of people imposing their views on another . One forced on an underaged child ......the other a group who clearly have the same rights as everyone else but another group don’t wish to mix because of their adhorance to the other.
Where the child is concerned she was affected by someone elses beliefs cleary ....and this actually happened….being the child was exposed to their belief in the fires of hell.
on the other hand, the homosexuals are obliged to not flaunt their beliefs/customs .....and no one saying they will.

Where on the other article it’s about forcing your beliefs on someone else…...the others about not.

I’m sorry I don’t have the words to explain my problem with your thinking here .....they are sort of opposed really.

in answer…Strangley Ros, my grandfathers built/sponsored two churches ....catholic and a protestant, in opposite directions I’ve been told ....mum and her 12 siblings are the only ones I can say I know how they felt about their God and religion ....they used to attend which ever service was on….as did most in GunnsPlains in those day leading up to the second war. Non of the men in the family attended church again after the war and is a thing that is mentioned often in our extended family of 400 odd who keep in touch. Irish/tasmanians breed like rabbits heheheee

Not even Jesus when he was with us on this Earth was able to stop the violence and abuse of others. Neither did Jesus end hunger and poverty during his time here on Earth AND NOT EVEN Jesus could heal every person on this planet when he was with us on Earth even though HE IS GOD.

So what do you expect me to do IAN?  I have informed police when I suspected a friend of my Father’s was sexually abusing his eldest daughter.  I was twenty and still living at home at the time so I caused untold grief to my family as as my father couldn’t believe it and aargued with me and almost hit me a few times over it.  After the court case and it being proven and his friend finally confessing did my father finally drop it.

So I’ve done my bit and that is all I can do.  I can’t monitor other people’s behaviour every minute of every day to stop them from doing evil to a child.  I’ve raised my children and I’ve taught them right from wrong.  I encourage my other family members to seek Christ and do what is right in God’s eyes. I have petitioned (in writing) the Government (whenever I can) against changing any law that goes against God’s Word. Beyond that I cannot run around enforcing righteous behaviour on others.  Not even God does that.  God gives us free will and if our free will hurts someone else God will deal with us over it but God doesn’t always stop every evil act in this world and neither can Christians.  A good example is that poor Truck Driver that was killed by a stray bullet from a nearby shoot out.  Just minding his own business and the wicked act of someone else takes his life.  We have laws against owning guns and a police force yet it was not enough to save this man’s life.  You can only do so much.

The raw hard facts of this world is that most of mankind refuse OBEY GOD.  It is only going to get worse.  Jesus will come one day soon to deal with the rebellion and sinfulness of mankind on this Earth.  Until then sexaul molestation of children and many other sickening crimes against others will increase.  It will be like the in days of Noah and like Sodom and Gommorah. No Christian voice will be heeded.  Mankind will even turn on those who speak God’s Truth because they don’t want to hear it.

As for victims of any kind of sinful wicked act. They can only recover from it through forgiveness.  We can’t undo what has happened to them.  Even killing the person who performed such wicked acts against them cannot deal with the victims pain and bitterness.

Personally I don’t need to be verbally abused by someone who has been a victim of someone else’s crime.  Being abused does not give you the right to abuse others. As a Christian I will tolerate someone’s angry and hate only for so long.  When it is obvious they don’t want help then I no longer leave myself open to their abuse.  I’m no doormat Christian. I will die for my faith but not as a punching bag for someone who can’t forgive and move on.  I have my own Chronic Illness I am struggling with daily and I have little time and strength to pander to others.

[ Edited: 03 July 2009 10:06 AM by Milica Cook]

Hey Milica that was just an observation of mine no offence intended sorry to hear about your chronic illness I hope it is improving .Congratulations to you for having the guts to report the offender to Police it must have been a terribly hard journey for you.
When a child suffers Clergy Sexual Abuse the child will more than likely have been manipulated with words such as nobody will believe you your just a child I’m the priest or (and I have heard this myself from three priests who are now convicted pedophiles)  “criticize your priest you criticize god”. this will happen before the the child has developed any sense of a free will or has any real notion of a personal relationship with god to a child, the animal behind him is god .This child will only have led a life of subservience .This child would have been emotionally raped bombarded with every Psychological game available to the Abuser for months or years before the Abuse takes place .In Ireland this Grooming process is a crime .It should be here as well.
This Child will carry the hurt of the Abuse deep within his/ her physce for years and it will make him/her anti social and anti authoritarian and worst of all they will not like the person they have become and it could be forty years before they know why .ALL this is generated by a CHRISTIAN ???? INSTITUTION. yeah more like a CULT.
If you read this please Email your local MP. and tell him her you object to the         $billion or more of our taxes being given to the catholic church when the situation here is every bit as bad as it is in Ireland . The church says we do not need an enquiry .I think that a priest ordained in 2003 and convicted of pedophilia offences which took place in 2006 says clearly we need a full enquiry NOW.
                        Yours Sincerely
                                  Ian Lawther
