The Events Plug Thread

Hi Arthur,

At TWIST, did they do a lot of ad nauseum repetition of choruses or verses for each song?

TZ.

P.S. It’s OK to say No!!

Actually that didn’t!  Honest!

It’s World Prayer Day today, which is normally held the first Friday of March.  Why not set aside some time to pray for someone you care about?  Some churches are combining to do prayer services.

PS. Also started a new monthly night service (5pm) at our church called Extreme!  We got off to a good start!

Free talk on how Jesus provides real peace, and free sandwich lunch/drinks.

That’s amazing Arthur. The way it reads is that Jesus will be providing a free sandwich lunch and drinks. Who said modern miracles don’t occur in Sydney ;)

Thanks Kev, the event went well with a high percentage uptake by interested non-believers.  Namely ~40%, similar to last time.  Even though less attended this time (40 compared to 60).

Ian preached from Psalm 23.

Fellas & Fish

http://www.facebook.com/?sk=events#!/event.php?eid=134193709984439

Saturday April 2, 6pm-9pm at Concord Bowling Club, Clermont Ave, Concord

African Glass Catfish…. Barramundi….Chinook Salmon… Dory….

How do you cook it?
What do you know about doing fish or seafood on the BBQ?
Which fish tastes the best?
How should it be cooked?
What are the best spices to use?

Don’t be a fish out of water… enjoy a great feed of fish and discover answers to these and other questions at Fellas & Fish.

Disclaimer: This is run by Concord Baptist.  I’ve never been to this or any events from the organisers before, but I know the organiser Tom Watson, and am willing to give it a try.

That sounds intriguing. I looked up their website - but they haven’t listed it as a current event. ( When will churches learn to effectively use their websites for advertising ‘outreach events’  ? ) Anyway, their contact phone number is 9746 1827 or email at (JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address).

On their website (  http://www.concordbaptist.org.au/  ) they say this about their Men’s Ministry :

The men of the church meet every two months at the Concord Bowling Club, 1 Clermont Ave Concord. These themed evenings are geared specifically for guys to bring their mates. Topics that have been covered include Men & Meat, Men & Motors, Men & Muscles, Men & Medicine. These meetings are highly informative with speakers who relate well to all guys. These events highlight that faith is and can have a real impact in the life of the Aussie bloke. There is always a good feed as well.

I like their titles. Maybe their next one will be Men & Movies. They obviously like their “M & Ms”. That’s a clever approach.

Thanks Arthur. I’m actually thinking about going now - will phone them and see if we can bring a few guys along as we’re looking to greatly expand our men’s work and seeing how others do it.

UPDATE :  Just re-read your post, and found that they have a Facebook page with a Youtube ad ( but they still should have a link to it from their church website ). Also, I see from that clip that they have already had a Men & Movies night.

Calling all Agatha Christie fans.  Zenith Theatre ( Chatswood ) is having the Australian Premiere of Agatha Christie’s “The Mousetrap” ( currently in its 60th year in London ). We’re going Sunday arvo - and I post this here to alert other lovers of Agatha Christie and the theatre.  Like us, you can save the cost of a return airfare to London - and catch the play locally ;)

http://www.zeniththeatre.com.au/eventdetail.aspx?PageID=1242&itemid=43&eventcategory=drama

The Mousetrap   Date: 31 Mar 2011 - 09 Apr 2011 ( 10 performance only )

                                    ** AUSTRALIAN PREMIERE **

A group of travelers gathered in a remote country guesthouse discover, to their horror, that there is a murderer in their midst. Who can it be? One by one the suspicious characters reveal their murky pasts until at the last, nerve-shredding moment the identity and the motive of the cold blooded killer are finally revealed. A cracking yarn and an irresistible treat for amateur sleuths everywhere!

Following the success of “Rope”, the spine tingling Zenith Theatre Murder Mysteries return in 2011 with the Australian Premiere of Agatha Christie’s “The Mousetrap”. Currently in its 60th year in London, this murder mystery masterpiece has been tricking and teasing theatregoers for generations!

Tickets:  Adult $32   Concession $28   Group of 10+ $28

Further to Arthur’s #38 :

” ( if you are ) coming to Fellas & Fish, just turn up at the Concord Bowling Club 1 Clermont Ave Concord at around 6pm. The cost of the evening is $20. This includes a good feed of fish”

The Fellas & Fish event was so popular (50+ people) that I couldn’t even find Kev amongst all the people!

It had a fish quiz, fish demo, fish Q&A, sumptuous dinner then a 7min gospel talk around the fish story.
