Jews protest at Anglican invitation to Iranian

Barney Zwartz
March 18, 2009

AN ANGLICAN archbishop is under fire from Jews for hosting a function for the former Iranian president Mohammad Khatami while he is in Australia this month.

The president of the Jewish Community Council of Victoria, John Searle, wrote to Melbourne’s Archbishop, Philip Freier, saying Jews found it inconceivable that the Anglican Church would host “such a man” or even meet him. He declined an invitation to attend and asked Dr Freier to reconsider.

Mr Searle told the Age that although Mr Khatami, president of Iran from 1997 to 2005, was regarded as a reformist, he was a sponsor of terrorism, a Holocaust denier and leader of a country that had often threatened to “wipe Israel off the map”.

“Only last year, this supposed champion of dialogue called Israel ‘an old, incurable wound on the body of Islam, a wound that really possesses demonic, stinking, contagious blood’.”

La Trobe University’s Centre for Dialogue is bringing Mr Khatami to Australia but he is not expected to visit Sydney. He will speak at the Australian National University in a public lecture titled next week before heading to Melbourne.

The Jewish Community Council has resigned from the centre’s board of advisers in protest. Dr Freier said he had invited Jewish leaders along with other groups who suffered persecution in Iran so they could raise their concerns with Mr Khatami.

He had been asked by La Trobe University to host a meeting, to be held at his home. “President Khatami speaks of dialogue as being foundational, so it’s important to be able to speak and listen. He has been the guest of the Archbishop of Canterbury at Lambeth Palace and he has high-level access while in Australia,” Dr Freier said.

The Jews started the ‘blowing people up’ when they were pushing Britain out of Palestine.
The pommies couldn’t handle it and left.
Now some are giving them their own back and they can’t handle it.
Israel has taken up too much news print for too bloody long ........Save a Tree and Ignore an Israeli.
As I tell everyone .....if the bar code starts with 729, don’t buy it as you are probably financing tools of oppression.

quote’The Jewish Community Council has resigned from the centre’s board of advisers in protest.’
GOOD! ....and you can take those Salesians on the universities faculty with you! .....they are two faced also!

They are the chosen people so they keep telling us….why would they need help from filth like us!!

Michael,

I can hardly believe that I am reading such hateful ignorant bitter anti-Zionist propaganda on this site. You have lost all credibility with me. I don’t expect that i will respond to any more of your outbursts - but I am reporting your post to the moderator.

Kevin, with me it’s not about religions or whatever….it’s about one group of people abusing anoyther group of people and I just think this whole thing is torally ridiculous…...whatever religion, colour of skin etc.
Everywhere I look in the world I see a huge mess .....too many people is my belief .......and we are going to kill the planet trying to make it work.
I read and see all this stuff here and there and have a tendency to go find out myself .......like I read about the “wipe Israel Off the Map’ crap .......and I just know it has been twisted around after being taken out of context in the first place.
I know they hate each other ........but why??>???

Bloody hell, I’ve had so many arguments wioth people over the years and I always find talk/discussion is the best…...I also find the ones who refuse discussion are usually the users.

I could go on about this for hours .....it ain’t about religion .......but my paint brush will be knackered i\f i don’t get back to the job.
Don’t be too hard on me Kev…..You’ll find my hearts nearly always in the right place ......empathy is a failing of mine ;)

Kevin, have a look across these stories about basic human rights ...World Conference against Racism
....doesn’t anyone see any parallels with the Sth African Apartheid?

Edit after closure .....sorry this closed as I do believe most of us are on the same page ....just the translation.
Kevin, I’m sorry if my use of language isn’t accurate in what I mean and some scribblings here of mine are maybe mistaken in their meaning.  I’m talking here about the peoples of the jewish faith and zionism…..and I think you feel I’m talking about the faith…..wrong!
The zionism is the issue with me…....and I’m very sorry I am useless at expressing what I mean.
wish we could just have an open chat about this as it seems manipulated as to what get’s through our media .....which becomes so obvious when you look around outside our small sphere ....even europe is far better informed. Can’t we at least get the news unabridged about this.
