I saw (heard) a snippet on the news.  Loved the change in expression on the judges and audiences faces.

My sister showed me that clip. I heard it before I actually saw it. The crowd went wild over every line she sang.

{Initially when I passed by sister’s room I thought I was hearing the backing screams from SYTYCD whenever Charlie dances (same kind of reaction)}.

Isn’t it awful that we all write each other off straightaway on the basis of pure physical appearance? Truly we judge only by the outward appearance. How shallow, how hypocritical, how sinful we all are.

What a relief that the Lord our God looks at our hearts!

But, then, is it really a relief that He sees who we truly are on the inside.. .. ..that we can’t fool Him by a pretty (or ugly) veneer?

TZ.

She can sing in mine too! ... Wait, we already have a few haha :=P

Here’s the link http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9lp0IWv8QZY.

The Youtube video has now been viewed over 12 *million* times!

Four days later and the count is almost 32 million !

Here’s a great article about her effort :

..... But now Susan Boyle, the middle-aged church volunteer whose soaring performance of “I Dreamed a Dream” on a British talent show last week turned her into the world’s newest instant celebrity, at youtube is trying to catch her breath.

“All the attention has been quite an upheaval, and she is quite tired,” Miss Boyle’s brother, John, told reporters on Thursday outside her tiny pebbledash cottage in tiny, previously unexciting Blackburn, Scotland. “I have taken her away to let her have some peace and quiet before the next round.”

“The next round” refers, of course, to “Britain’s Got Talent,” the “X-Factor”-style competition in which the unglamorous, unfashionable Miss Boyle, 47, confounded a multitude of stereotypes by unveiling her gorgeous singing voice last Saturday night. Part of the joy of watching her performance was seeing the obnoxious, smarmy grimaces disappear from the faces of Simon Cowell and Piers Morgan, two of the show’s judges, and seeing the audience shift, in an instant, from tittering condescension to open-mouthed admiration.

Miss Boyle is unmarried (and unkissed, she told the program), has no job, lives with her cat and has until now sung mostly in her local church. But she has become a heroine not only to people dreaming of being catapulted from obscurity to fame but also to those who cheer her triumph over looks-ism and ageism in a world that so values youth and beauty.

Her life has changed irrevocably. The show has provided her with a publicist, whose job is to run interference and field basic questions, like, Is Miss Boyle available for an interview? (No is the answer.) But though the storms are gathering, they will have to gather in a contained manner for at least the next month. “Britain’s Got Talent” is still in its early stages, where the judges pick contestants from regional auditions, and Miss Boyle’s next chance of appearing does not come until May 23, the semifinal round.

“Unlikely singer is Youtube Sensation”

And she has recorded one track back in 1999 on a charity ( 1000 copies only ) CD :

...It’s all a far cry from 1999, when Susan recorded her track for the charity compilation CD at Whitburn Academy, where X Factor winner Leon Jackson went to school. The Millennium Celebration disc, which was partly funded by Whitburn Community Council, was the brainchild of local newspaper editor Eddie Anderson.

He launched a search for unsigned acts to take part. And as soon as he heard Susan at the auditions he knew he had found something special. “I was amazed when she sang,” Eddie said. “It was probably the same reaction as everyone had last Saturday. “Susan was exactly the same then as she is now. She has a fabulous and unique talent.”

When Susan walked on to the Britain’s Got Talent stage, the judges and audience seemed more interested in her appearance than her voice. Simon, Piers Morgan and Amanda Holden rolled their eyes and raised their eyebrows when she told them she wanted to be a Broadway superstar like Elaine Paige. But their scorn quickly turned to amazement when she started to sing.

Simon grinned as he admitted that Susan’s voice was “extraordinary”. Piers told her: “I am giving you the biggest ‘yes’ I have ever given to anybody.” And Amanda added: “It was a privilege to listen to you.”

In the days that followed, Susan became a YouTube sensation. Even Hollywood A-lister Demi Moore admitted she was moved to tears when she watched her performance.

The bookies have installed Susan as red-hot favourite to win the £100,000 Britain’s Got Talent first prize…....

“Cry me a river” 1999

Susan Boyle’s first ever song release

Thanks Kevin for the link to Susan’s 1999 single. No doubt that she has the goods. I must admit that as a skeptic, I thought the electronic geeks may have been up to something.  I recently read in “New Scientist” that savants have amazing ability with numbers and memory and holding pitch. So savant or not, Susan has a natural gift it seems.

SUSAN Boyle has stepped out in a new look, which has turned her in to a rising rock star.

The ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ singing sensation appeared on the streets of Blackburn in Scotland dressed in a leather jacket and a psychedelic dress, and the 47-year-old self confessed virgin was rocking the streets of her home town in West Lothian after her makeover.

Celebrity gossip sites are in a frenzy over the fact she has also plucked her eyebrows…..

Susan Boyle gives rival Hollie the boot          May 01, 2009

CLEARLY unhappy to share the limelight, Susan Boyle has been shown kicking her fellow Britain’s Got Talent contestant Hollie Steel to the ground.

But thankfully unassuming Susan hasn’t suddenly developed a nasty streak, her giving the 10-year-old the boot is actually nothing more than a special effects spoof shown on U.S. chat show Jimmy Kimmel Live last night.
