Off to see “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1” tonight in V-MAX on the giant screen - with FREE tickets courtesy of the Cine Buzz bonus points scheme - I love my freebies ;) My daughter saw it at 12.01am in Gold Class no less ( not my scene ) and reviewed it as “Sooo good!!”
I just couldn’t wait for the weekend to catch up with Harry either ;)

She’s 23 and married and living 52 kms away from her parents ;) And she’s a very modern role-model for an art teacher too ;)
Of course, if she was still a ‘youngster’ I would have gone along to ride ‘shotgun’ - as I did many moons ago when our three were still teenagers and wanted to go to those midnight to dawn movie marathons. As a loving protective dad, that’s probably something you’ll get to experience sometime in the next decade ;)
ADDED : Did I say those were ‘midnight to dawn’ ? I should have written ‘midnight to YAWN’. Bit past my bedtime these days ;)

Went and saw “Made in Deganham” for second time. I told my wife that she really should see it, so I took her and her mum to see it at the Ritz Randwick - a very art deco establishment. They were most thankful to see a really great film - and I was rapt to see it again. Truly a memorable film !
This was our first outing to the Ritz in maybe 15+ years. They have had redevelopments in 1997 and 2001 and now have 6 screens seating from 63 to 883 patrons. See : http://www.ritzcinema.com.au/
The Ritz Cinema in Randwick is “one of Sydney’s last remaining independent art-deco cinemas, screening the latest in quality film at unbeatable ticket prices”. Become a fan for access to special offers and discounts available only on Facebook ! See : http://www.facebook.com/RitzCinemaRandwick
The art deco styling is fairly rare these days - so is worth a visit just for that. You can even arrange meals and drinks. The Ritz is a fully licensed theatre, so patrons can even drink their wine or beer as they watch the movie - or maybe you would prefer a latte or cappucino - they have it all ! Cinema viewing as it should be.

CANADIAN actor Leslie Nielsen, famous for his deadpan turns in Airplane! and The Naked Gun, has died aged 84, a radio station has reported.
His death was first reported in unconfirmed messages on Twitter that suggested the actor had died in the hospital after suffering from pneumonia.
His nephew, Doug Nielson, told Canadian radio station CJOB that the actor had been in the hospital in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, for 12 days and that “he just fell asleep and passed away” with family and friends by his side.
Born in Regina, Canada, Leslie Nielsen appeared in more than 100 movies and hundreds of television shows over the course of his career.
Awarded a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, he was also made an Officer of the Order of Canada in 2002 despite also being a naturalized US citizen.
He was married four times, and had two children from his second marriage, Maura and Thea Nielsen.
We finally saw RED. I agree Kevin. It had a similar vibe to old James Bond movies… before they started getting all Jason Bourne on us. Not that there’s anything wrong with Bond-fun or Bond-Bourne… indeed, I like the last 2 Daniel Craig Bond movies.
But I missed the fun.
And Malkovitch was in his element. I mean, they couldn’t write a better part for him.
Can he get any creepier or weirder?

I can’t believe I missed the significance of the 7 Harry’s and the 7 Horcruxes! (Slaps hand to forehead). And this from a fierce protector of the Framework view of Genesis!
Joined CineBuzz. Tried to do it online, but when I came to print off the temporary card, all it would print was a bar code and number. Showed this to the ticket-seller, who gave it a dubious look, but scanned it (which worked), and then issued me with a new card, saying he’d transferred me to the new one, but to check it online.
Game: in which 7 Will Smith movies does he save the world, or at least North America?
NO USING WIKI, IMDB, OR OTHER WILL SMITH DATABASE!
(This is why when Hollywood rumours started circulating about a possible Isaac Asimov “Foundation” movie series, slashdot pleaded… “Anyone but Will Smith!”)
Was it “Men in Black” ? Oh you want 7 movies. In that case add “Men in Black 2”, ‘Independence Day”... will have to scratch my head some more…. and will add more when ( if ) inspiration comes along.
