This is a thread for movies you’ve seen lately :)

I watched The Dark Knight on DVD last night, and despite very positive reviews I thought it was overrated - maybe something was lost in the transition to the small screen, or I needed to see the prev movies or something, but it just didn’t seem to have much soul. 3 stars.

What have you seen lately?

I attended a Blokes W/E away/ retreat/ escape organised by my church recently. We had the services of a very fluent and knowledgable preacher. The interesting talks were referenced by many excellent Bible passages.
A very relaxing and meditative time.
We were all Christians as far as I know and I was wondering what non-Christians would think of the talks.
Then I had a dream the next night. In it a new preacher came up looking like Clint Eastwood. He said “Right! put your Bibles in your back pockets and listen to this.
First, are you master of your fate or are you not? If you are not master, then you are a Christian. Otherwise you are some sort of dictator.
Second, Can you explain infinity or eternity? If you can, then you may not be of this world. IF you can’t then you are a Christian.
Then, and I don’t understand this, Lara Bingle came along and said ” If you are not a Christian why the blooody hell aren’t you? “. Then I woke up in fright.

media release - digital forty four

28 Feb 2010 - Source: Australian Christian Channel

The Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) recently announced that it would not be extending the Sydney datacasting trial service Digital Forty Four, operated by Broadcast Australia, beyond 30 April 2010.

This will mean the Australian Christian Channel, National Indigenous Television (NITV), Teachers TV and others will no longer be available in the Sydney Metropolitan area on this service.

The Australian Christian Channel has been a part of this trial that began in 2004, and has seen a growing supportive audience who value this service. The Australian Christian Channel thanks all those who have supported them over this period. The Australian Christian Channel continues to be available on all major PayTV platforms; Foxtel, Austar, Optus TV, TransACT and Neighbourhood Cable.

This channel is a source of great encouragement - especially for shut-ins and the less mobile.

It is time for enthused Christian people to start complaining IN WRITING - and spread the word !

I see that Compass will be showing this on Sunday night :

Compass, with Geraldine Doogue - The Atheists
Sunday 29 March, 10:05pm ABC1

As best-selling books rail against religion, Compass talks to atheists of different stripes. What do they believe and are they all the same ? Eminent philosopher John Gray ; science writer and editor of Skeptic magazine Michael Shermer; historian and writer Inga Clendinnen and Australia’s best known atheist Phillip Adams, all explore the philosophical and practical consequences of being an atheist.

How does their atheism shape their attitudes to science and the big questions of our time such as war and global warming ? Is conflict between atheists and believers inevitable and necessary ? Or, is this debate generating more heat than light ? ( 30 minutes )

All Saints axed by Channel Seven

By Erin McWhirter, TV Editor
July 09, 2009 05:05pm

AFTER much speculation Channel 7 has confirmed hospital drama All Saints has been axed after 12 seasons on-air.

While filming will continue on the Australian production until the end of August, 493 episodes of the drama will have streamed into lounge rooms across the nation since All Saints began with Georgie Parker leading the cast as nurse Terri Sullivan on February 24 1998.

“All Saints is a show which viewers and Seven have loved,” said Seven’s head of programming Tim Worner.

“However, an audience shift and increased production costs are behind this decision. The cast and crew deserve the highest admiration and respect for what they have achieved. All Saints has made a significant contribution to the rich history of Australian drama.”

The announcement comes after Seven attempted to attract new audience interest by introducing a Medical Response Unit branch earlier this year.

It is believed the new unit increased the All Saints production budget by approximately $150,000 per episode.

Hi,

I got 100$ worth of itunes vouchers for Christmas and I was looking for good Christian music suggestions I don’t really know a great deal about Christian music today. I rarely listen to it, but I don’t really need another version of many of the greatest hymns. For example I have 4 versions of be thou my vision on my ipod.

I hear some of the people talk about how certain bands but I have never heard of many of them. If I hear a song at church I like I note the title and download it.

Regards

The test series has to be one of the best I’ve ever seen. It was the battle of the tails in a lot of ways, but it’s been fantastic to finally see some evenly matched cricket, even if we don’t always come out on top! :)

I’m not convinced by the ODI squad - do we really need all those average all-rounders?
